Prof. Helmut Kern is Chairmanof the Board of Statistics Austria and Deputy Chairman of the Board ofTrustees of the University of Vienna. He also serves as the AustrianGovernment’s Representative for University Rankings and Internationalisation.
He previously heldsenior leadership roles in the public and private sectors, including Chairmanof the Board of the Austrian state holding company Ă–sterreichische BeteiligungsAG (Ă–BAG) and Non-Executive Director of several major Austrian andUK companies. Prior to that, he was a Global Partner at Deloitte Consultingand Head of Consulting at PwC.
Prof. Kern holdsdegrees in Management as well as History and Medieval History,and has completed executive programmes at Columbia University (New York)and Harvard Business School (Massachusetts).

He lives in Vienna,Austria. Prof. Kern is married to his wife Michaela; they have adult twindaughters.
