Simon Bradbury is the Pro-Vice Chancellor International and OverseasProvost at De Montfort University. He is responsible for the overallstrategic direction and priorities of the Universities International strategyincluding student recruitment and international partnerships. He has developedand manages two overseas branch campuses for the University in Dubai andKazakhstan.
He has also led on delivering the Education for SustainableDevelopment project for the university as part of DMU’s role as a Global Hubfor the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Prior to this, hewas the Head of the School of Architecture at De Montfort University.
He is an active researcher whose most recent book published by theRIBA, ‘Better Buildings: Learning from Buildings in Use’ reviews theeffectiveness of sustainable buildings in relation to design performance. Hewas a member of the RIBA Research and Innovation Group and sat on the academicreference group for the industry led UK Architecture higher apprenticeshipstandard.
He has worked in the USA and the UK for internationally recognisedArchitecture and Urban Design practices. He was responsible for the design of anumber of award-winning international projects ranging in scale from largeurban design projects to individual houses for local government, third sectorand private clients with a particular focus on sustainability. Simon has workedin UK Government at the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment(CABE) where he was responsible for the commissioning of research to influencechanges in policy on issues including sustainable urban design, housingstandards and the value of good design.
